Cheezy Garlic & Herb Scrolls

LETS ROCK AND SCROLL! Please excuse the bad puns I just can’t help myself! It’s difficult to contain my excitement when I’m able to share another delicious baked good with you guys that is super duper easy to make and CRUELTY FREE. If we can produce meals that look and taste as good (if not better??) without animal products why wouldn’t we? I’m here to do what I love best ~ making a mess in the kitchen and showing you the final scrumptious rest, and maybe enlighten a few people about vegan cooking and the versatility of so many common ingredients you probably have in your kitchen at home!

What I’m dishing up for you on this post is some super cheezy scrolls. I’ve adapted my recent Vegan pizza scrolls  recipe and tweaked it easily to create these bad boys. Prepped and cooked in under an hour, you’ll no doubt be a fan of these thicc buns.


  • 2 1/2 cups plain flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup Nuttelex or preferred vegan butter
  • 1 cup soy milk or preferred non dairy milk


  • 1 cup + extra for sprinkling of shredded bio cheese or soy cheese
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • Pinch of salt & pepper
  • 1 tbsp Nuttelex or vegan butter choice
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder


1 Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius and line baking tray.

2 Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl before adding the salt.

3 Rub the Nuttelex (or preferred butter) into the flour mix until evenly distributed and slowly add the milk while stirring to form your dough.

4 Tip the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll out to an approximate 40cm x 30cm rectangle. This doesn’t have to be exact just needs to be as even shaped a rectangle as possible.

5 Spread your tbsp of butter evenly over the dough, mix spices and herbs together and sprinkle over the buttered surface, ensuring covered evenly. Sprinkle layer of cheese evenly over the top!

6 From the shorter side, firmly roll the dough to create a log and slice into even pieces.

7 Press down very gently on each disc and place on the baking tray before sprinkling more of the cheese on top!

8 Place in the oven for about 15 minutes or until the cheese has melted and dough has started to brown.

9 Serve fresh and stuff your face with these!
